Fantasy and horror author Damien wanted a set of promotional portraits with a dark, brooding tone that reflected the themes of his work. We shot around the City of London and the Barbican estate, using the wide range of architecture in this area as a backdrop to produce a very diverse set of images.

This series set out to create an exceptionally high contrast effect, combining bright studio flash lighting on the model with almost entirely unlit backgrounds. I pushed the film by two stops in processing to further increase contrast.
